The club should be indebted to the knowledge and experience of team manager Norman Hooper who, with the help of his co-selectors, has always picked winning teams after some tinkering with positions throughout the season.

In their last game, Park were without half-a-dozen top players, but "The Tinkerman" came up with a side that won the game 9-1.

Leading the way were Derek Coombes, Michael Stone, Colin Carrie and Gordon Moore, who were 8-21 in arrears at 13 ends, but rallied to defeat Terry Fitzgerald 28-23.

The ever-dependable Nigel Hooper skipped his team of Dave Shorey, Phil Wade and Robin Boswell to a comfortable 23-20 victory over Alec Vickers.

Another stalwart of the team this year has been the rink of Terry Hodd, Allen McBride, Steve Sands and Derek Deeprose and they notched up another easy win, this time 28-12 over Jon Thomas.

Ray Hodd, Frank Pullen, Graham Ward and Trevor Monk played a steady game to win 19-16 against John Frew.

Despite leading 21-13 after 17 ends, Gerry Mepham, Peter Cockett, Dave Wickens and skip Kevin Carrie leaked shots at the death to draw 22-22 with Colin Brown.

The only losing rink was that of young John Gravener, John Wright, Terry Campbell and Tony Midwinter, who lost 12-21 to the Mighty Quinn.

Sponsorship in bowls is always very hard to obtain and the club would like to thank MC Glass, who have backed them this year. Their help has benefited the club greatly and the club hopes this league title will be the first of many to come.
