Filly makes fine first for centre's initiative

A NEW foal has launched a Quarter Horse breeding programme at Manor Farm Western Riding Centre, established by Matt and Marissa Luckin at Tortington, near Arundel.

The filly, named Miss Annie May Story, is the first foal of the yard's brood mare Sierra Lilly and is out of Jay's Smokin Story, a top Quarter Horse stallion owned by David Deptford of Sovereign Quarter Horses.

The stallion has gained American Quarter Horse Association points in the discipline of reining and is a National Reining Horse Association champion.

The filly, which has excellent conformation, will eventually be for sale as part of the couple's aim to bring quality Western Riding horses with good bloodlines to this country.

Marissa said: "We are aiming to expand and get more brood mares for our breeding programme.

"Our second brood mare, Dear Lidia, will be arriving soon from quarantine in Oklahoma and is in foal to Cowboy at Heart, a top Western stallion."
