Fizz of Veuve Clicquot to attract polo superstars

THE most coveted trophy in polo, and a key highlight of the Season, the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup will once again be the magnet for the world's most talented polo players to gather at Cowdray Park, West Sussex, this summer.

Truly a feast of world class polo, the tournament for the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup, which decides the winners of the British Open, opens on June 27 with Quarter Finals over the weekend of July 14/15, Semi Finals on Thursday July 19 and the Final on Sunday July 22.

Cowdray's Polo Manager, Chris Bethell, predicts an entry of 20 or more teams in the tournament which ranks alongside the Argentine and US Opens in world polo terms. Black Bears, winners of the 2006 Gold Cup, will return with their young patron Guy Schwarzenbach flanked by 9 goal Argentine polo stars Javier and Eduardo Novillo-Astrada.
