Blues twice led in normal time before they were pegged back and exited the competition on spot-kicks.

Rustington boss Trevor Waller was left disappointed with his team’s loss and said: “It was really frustrating to lose the game as I felt we were the better side in the 90 minutes.

“We created a number of chances in the game but just didn’t manage to convert them.

“Our problem at the moment is converting the chances we are creating and, also, we are conceding too many goals.

“We have lost a few games 3-2 and in matches when you manage to score twice, you would hope that you win them.

“If we had taken our chances, we could have had a four-goal lead at the break and the game is all but over.

“However, we just did not manage to take them and full credit must go to Storrington. They stuck at it and came away with the victory in the end.

“It’s a shame, as we thought this was a good chance at a cup run but it wasn’t to be and we will move on to the next game now.”

Rustington took the lead when Simon Clarke’s free kick evaded everyone and found the bottom corner of the net. The visitors were level just two minutes after the break when Iain Jarvie fired the ball home.

But Storrington levelled just two minutes later when Regan Miles was caught in possession and Russell Shoebridge found the net.

There were no further goals during normal time, or extra-time, before Swans progressed on penalties.
