Sidley United have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of David Pugh.

The Blues completed the transfer of Pugh from Westfield on Wednesday night and manager John Lambert is looking forward to working with a player who scored 32 goals for the Westies two seasons ago.

Lambert said: “We’ve got no recognised centre-forward so that will be a great addition for us. He’s got goals in him and I think he just wanted a new challenge.

“We’re playing pretty decent, we’re hard to beat, we just needed that focal point and hopefully Pughy will provide that. Hopefully that will be the last bit of our jigsaw.”

Pugh is doubtful for the trip to Hassocks in Sussex County Football League Division One tomorrow (Saturday) through work, but should be around for the twice-postponed visit from Lingfield on Tuesday night.

Ashley Darby, the cousin of Sidley midfielder Matt Darby, has signed on a dual-registration basis with Eastbourne Borough, and Sidley are hoping his priority will lie with themselves.

Chris Agutter and Dan Cruikshank are banned tomorrow, but Ben Radley is due to return for a Sidley side which has lost only one of its last eight matches.
