Bognor are no pub team - but the Royal Oak is getting behind them

Pub manager Kay Martin has raised a glass to celebrate the amazing fundraising effort by Rocks fans -- and entered the upcoming sponsors' draw to add to the groundswell of goodwill for the club.

Kay, who runs the Royal Oak, Lagness, is now keeping her fingers crossed that the popular boozer wins the draw and the star prize of becoming the Nye Camp outfit's main shirt sponsor.

She explains: "I was talking with our new landlord about the heroic efforts of the club's supporters in raising more than £50,000 and we thought we just had to get behind the club and play our part.

“We have a couple of regulars who watch all the Rocks games and they were telling us what a great asset the club is for the community and, of course, we agree wholeheartedly!"

The annual draw also gives businesses the chance to win a range of prizes, including match day and ball sponsorship. The bash has been pencilled in for August 26 at the club's events venue Seasons, but this could be subject to change if the guidelines for public gatherings differ.

Rocks commercial manager Dave Robinson is working hard to collate the entries -- along with co-ordinator Laura Denby --and says he is encouraged by the number of firms who are taking part. Companies can have one entry for £180, two for £250, or three for £300.

He said: “It’s great that the Royal Oak have entered the draw and we thank them for doing so. Obviously with what has happened with the pandemic the landscape has changed but we have had a fantastic response overall. There are loads of great opportunities up for grabs and the chance of having your name emblazoned on our first team shirts is very attractive. The exposure your business will get throughout the season is significant."
