The U’s have achieved a win and a draw against higher level opposition in their latest two friendlies over the past week.

“I’m very pleased with how it’s coming together,” said White. “We’ve gone behind in both games and we’ve got something out of them so that’s a good sign.

“The thing that’s pleased me most has been our fitness levels; I think we’ve finished both games the stronger.”

Bright Temba and Bryce Masters have put pen to paper, while White says he’s “more or less there” with Ronnie Dolan. Frazer Shaw made his second United appearance against Eastbourne Borough on Tuesday having turned out for Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday.

“It’s up in the air at the moment (regarding Shaw),” continued White. “The vibe that he’s given us is very positive towards our club, but if bigger fish come calling, the boy would be silly not to try and further his career.

“The people that were there on Tuesday night, plus Ade (Olorunda, who was on holiday), will probably be the core of the squad that will hopefully start the season.”

United will continue their friendlies with away games against Sevenoaks Town tomorrow (Saturday), Eastbourne Town on Tuesday and Ringmer on Thursday.
