The 18-year-old will initially link up with the Seagulls' under-23 squad but Brighton boss Chris Hughton will monitor his progress.

He said: “We are pleased to welcome Leo to the club and I am looking forward to seeing how he progresses here.

“He is a young player, and he has already gained some experience playing in Norway, and for his country with their under-19s.

“Initially he will link up with Simon Rusk and our under-23 squad, but we will be monitoring his progress.”

Ostigard made his senior debut for Molde - managed by Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjær - in June, 2017, before spending the 2018 season on loan at Norwegian second-tier side Viking Stavanger.

He has been capped six times for Norway at under-19 level.
