LEE Carey has been appointed Hastings United captain ahead of the new season.
The midfielder takes over the armband from Josh Jirbandey who is only certain to be with Hastings until January when he intends to go to the United States to study.
“The main reason is because we haven’t got Josh for the whole season,” explained Hastings player-manager Sean Ray.
“Josh is only with us until January and what I don’t want to do is have to change captain midway through the season. Lee is the natural choice for me, he’s done everything I’ve asked of him since I’ve taken over.
“I trust all of my players but I’ve known Lee longer than most and he’s come into own and is playing his best football.”
