Common set for plum Borough clash

Little Common’s eagerly-anticipated showdown with Eastbourne Borough will take place tonight (Tuesday).

Second-bottom of Sussex County League Division Two, Common will be out to bridge a gap of 92 places and four divisions in the non-league pyramid against a Borough side lying 13th in Blue Square Bet South.

Common player/manager Russell Eldridge (pictured), who is cup-tied, said: “It should be a good occasion, especially for some of the younger players in the team to play against some experienced players in front of a decent crowd hopefully.”

Although Common were drawn at home, they have agreed to switch the Sussex Senior Cup third round match as they cannot host it on a week night due to the absence of floodlights at the Recreation Ground.

Kick-off at Priory Lane is 7.45pm, and admission will be £5 adults, £3 OAPs and £1 children.

Elsewhere tonight, Sidley United will be gunning for three more Sussex County League Division One points when they entertain Crowborough Athletic.

Kick-off at Gullivers is 7.45pm. Mark Chandler’s transfer back to Sidley following a short spell at Bexhill United was completed last night.

Summaries of the two matches will appear on this website tomorrow morning and full reports will appear in Friday’s Bexhill Observer.
