Mr and Mrs Little Common Football Club enjoyed a trip to Buckingham Palace on Monday to receive a prestigious accolade.
Ken and Margaret Cherry were presented with special commemorative medals in recognition of their many years of dedication to Little Common FC and grassroots football.
The event was part of the Football Association’s 150th birthday celebrations in which 150 grassroots heroes from up and down the country were recognised. Prince William and FA chairman Greg Dyke were in attendance to hand over the medals.
On the field, Common’s first team will return to action on Saturday with a trip to Storrington. Common were the odd one out of Sussex County Football League Division Two’s 17 teams last weekend and their inactivity has seen them drop from first to fourth on goal difference.
