The men’s first team are now looking ahead to the 2021-22, when they hope most of the present squad will still be around to help spearhead another bid for promotion to the Isthmian premier division.

To that end, they have extended defender Ollie Black’s contract to the end of the 2021-22 season.

Black has become a fan favourite known for his no-nonsense approach and amazing long throws.

Black said: “We’ve shown we have the best team and coaching staff in the league, and I can’t wait to get started again.

“Luck with the promotion situation hasn’t been on our side but hopefully it’s third time lucky and this year we will get to finish a job we started a couple of years back, finally delivering to the Us supporters their much deserved promotion.”

Manager Chris Agutter added: “OB is without fail one of the first names on the teamsheet. Honest, hard-working and a fighter, he’s an individual who’s been a central figure to our recent success and will no doubt contribute to our future success. With OB’s signature we have our sights firmly set on the 2021-22 season.”

CEO Billy Wood said: “I think Ollie could be a future Hastings United captain and showed so by donning the armband in pre-season.”

Meanwhile, the women’s first XI – whose 20-21 season is still alive – have recruited Georgia Tibble from Eastbourne Town Women.

The 24-year-old is an attacking player who was an ever-present in the London and South East premier division (step five) with three goals in eight games. A player known for her creative ability, she is looking forward to getting started at The Pilot Field.

Tibble said: “Joining a club with the vision, plans, background and support that Hastings United have is exciting and something I am pleased to become part of. It’s a new challenge and a journey that I hope is enjoyable, rewarding the efforts everyone at the club has put in. I am more than ready to get going and meet everyone involved.”

Wood said: “Tibbs is exactly the sort of signing that shows this is a club with ambition. With the SCWGFL premier looking to come back next month we wanted to add a little bit more quality.”
