Two goals in either half were enough to see off still pointless Seaford Town in Macron Store Sussex County Football League Division Two on Saturday.

Westfield started really brightly and Seaford’s goalkeeper had already kept out a free kick by the time Terry Payne rounded-off a good passage of play to put the Westies in front.

The hosts remained on top until conceding a comical equaliser. Jamie Bell’s throw back to Carl Morris hit the goalkeeper in the head and fell to Seaford attacker Mark Browning, who gratefully accepted the gift.

Westfield put that behind them and set up camp in Seaford’s half once again. Payne was brought down for a penalty which Sam Willett tucked away for his fourth goal in as many league matches.

Although Westfield were a little bit flat and weren’t shifting the ball as quickly at the start of the second half, they extended their lead when a good move down the right ended with Roberto Martellini tapping home for his first senior goal of the season.

If there was any doubt over the outcome at that stage, there surely wasn’t when a half cleared corner was crossed back in for the unmarked David Pugh to volley home at the far post.

Tom O’Connor nabbed a late consolation for Seaford after a cross from the left was flicked on by Ross Williams.
