In the annual season preview, Newcastle are predicted to be crowned champions after relegation from the Premier League last season, with Nigel Pearson’s Derby County the runners-up.

Norwich and Sheffield Wednesday then follow, with Brighton in fifth place and Birmingham taking the final play-off position.

Blackburn, Burton Albion and Rotherham are predicted to finish in the bottom three.

Last year, FourFourTwo predicted the Seagulls to be relegated from the Championship and they only missed out on promotion to the Premier League through goal difference.

On their prediction page in the September issue of this month’s magazine, FourFourTwo wrote: “Seagulls fans reminded us at every opportunity - and why not? - that their heroes were in fact pushing for promotion. Oops.”

Sky Sports pundit Ian Holloway has tipped the Seagulls to be promoted this season, finishing second in the Championship behind Newcastle.
