United conceded a 90th minute winner to lose 2-1 away to Molesey in Ryman Football League Division One South after Billy Medlock had equalised earlier in the second half.

The U’s remain in sixth place - two points and one place outside the play-offs - because fifth-placed Hythe Town also lost, 3-0 at home to Walton Casuals. Molesey are now level on points with United, albeit with an inferior goal difference.

United goalkeeper Joe Taylor produced a super save to deny Charlie Samuels in the first two minutes and Taylor kept out another effort from the same player not long afterwards.

Ross Chalke then headed wide from a corner as Molesey made all the early running. United weathered the storm, but failed to muster a single attempt at goal during a scoreless first half in which they lost Zac Attwood to injury.

Into the second period and Medlock had a shot tipped against the outside of the near post by home goalkeeper Liam Allen. Sam Cruttwell was then narrowly off target from 25 yards.

Molesey opened the scoring, however, in the 59th minute. Reis Stanislaus pulled the ball back for James McShane and although his shot was blocked by Liam Wilson, Samuels fired home.

United were only behind for six minutes. A move down the right started by Richard Davies ended with Medlock meeting Chris Cumming-Bart’s cross with a looping header to score his 20th United goal of the season.

McShane sliced wide from an inviting position at one end and Medlock blazed over at the other before Molesey grabbed the winner. Taylor did superbly to repel McShane’s initial effort from a Samuels cross only for Tom Windsor to tuck away the rebound.
