I'll do everything I can to achieve success, says new United boss

Hare, who was appointed last week, seems genuinely excited by the challenge of returning to management for the first time in many years.

He said: “I’m excited for this challenge and I’ll be giving it everything I’ve got to try and bring success to the club.

“It’s not easy coming in as a manager. People have got to get used to me and the new players have got to gel, but I think I’ve got a good chance. I’m a good coach and I will be able to recognise when things need changing.”

Hare is optimistic of doing well in Ryman Football League Division One South, but says the competition will be tough and believes the standard has improved since his days as assistant manager of Dover Athletic.

“I’m satisfied with the budget I’ve got at Hastings, 100 percent,” he continued. “I expect us to do well, but it’s not going to be easy; there’s some good teams in the division. I think anybody who finishes above Dorking (Wanderers) will be popping corks next season.

“I’m confident that we will be up there and challenging, and that’s where we need to be. They’re a Ryman Premier club all day long with the fanbase, the ground, if not Conference South if the truth be known.

“I think what’s happened is with a lot of foreign players coming in at the top level, the Championship’s got better players and it cascades down. There’s a lot of very good players playing Ryman South football now and the standard is rising.”

Having spent a number of years at League One club Gillingham, Hare intends to bring some elements of the professional game to The Pilot Field.

“I want to come down and try to create as professional an environment as I possibly can,” he went on. “I will definitely be bringing in a strength and conditioning, and fitness coach. We’ll be looking at recovery, nutrition and injury prevention. I want to give the players an enjoyable journey.”
