Lewis Hole struck twice for the second successive Saturday as Little Common saw off Mile Oak

The area’s three Sussex County Football League Division Two clubs achieved a mixed set of results on Saturday.

Little Common won 4-2 at home to Mile Oak, Bexhill United drew 2-2 at home to Steyning Town and Westfield lost 5-3 away to Saltdean United with the three games producing 18 goals.

Common took the lead with barely a minute on the clock thanks to Jared Lusted’s looping header. Luke Pullinger equalised for Oak with a well-struck shot, but Zack McEniry powered home a header from the edge of the box to give Common a 2-1 half time lead.

Lewis Hole made it 3-1 from the penalty spot following a foul on Adam Smith and Russell Eldridge pulled the ball back for Hole to score Common’s fourth - his 29th of the season - in the 60th minute. Stuart Garrod pulled one back for Oak 10 minutes from time.

Bexhill fell behind after a quarter-of-an-hour in their game only for Kasey Smith to equalise on the stroke of half time. Although Steyning got their noses in front again midway through the second period, Dean Stevens salvaged a point for Bexhill with a 77th minute leveller.

Gordon Cuddington struck twice and Sam Henham also netted, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Westfield suffering a second successive defeat, during which time they’ve conceded 11 goals. See Friday’s Observers for full reports.
