Rye United overcame Sussex County Football League leaders Pagham in cup action on Saturday.

Second half goals from Duncan McArthur (penalty) and Luke Woodley, pictured, gave Rye a 2-0 victory in round three of the Sussex RUR Charity Cup. Rye will again be at home in the quarter-finals against Oakwood.

Division Two side Bexhill United gave Division One high-flyers Lingfield a scare in the same competition before going down 4-3 after extra-time at The Polegrove.

Bexhill came from behind to level on three occasions through Andy Garman, Paul Rogers and Linton Rogers, but had Matt Sellick and Paul Henty sent-off at 3-3. Lingfield also had a player dismissed.

Sidley United suffered a dreadful 2-0 defeat away to a Chichester City side which went into the Sussex Division One match bottom of the table. Sidley gave a debut to new signing Bryce Masters.

Westfield lost 4-2 at home to fellow Division Two outfit Eastbourne United AFC in round two of the Sussex Senior Cup. Roberto Martelini scored both goals for a Westfield side which had Matt Cruttwell controversially red carded.

Russell Eldridge’s first game as player/manager of Little Common ended in a single goal defeat away to third-placed Dorking Wanderers in Division Two. Common remain at the foot of the standings.
