Sunday football league suspended

League president Ken Brook proposed at a special general meeting on Monday night the league would be suspended for a year and would look at bringing the league back with a range of incentives for clubs to join or rejoin.

It was also decided during the meeting at the Royal Victoria Hotel that a minimum of 10 teams would be required for the members present to consider reaffiliating the league.

Honorary league secretary Alan Green, who was also present along with chairman Mick Creed and vice-president Robin Powell, is to evaluate all the trophies in his possession and compile a full inventory to that effect.

Senior officers will hold a meeting in March 2013 in order to compile advertisements and incentives for the potential recommencement of the league.

The league’s annual general meeting will still be held on Sunday June 24, 2012 to re-elect officers and conclude league business for the season.

From Monday’s meeting, officers present will form a special committee to be ratified at the AGM to manage league affairs until such time that it is decided to recommence or wind up the league as it stands and to administer as necessary.
