Heavy rain in the Thanet area left parts of an excellent-looking Hartsdown Park pitch waterlogged, particularly in the penalty area at the bottom of the slope, and the match referee called the game off.

The third round qualifying tie has been rearranged for Tuesday night (kick-off 7.45pm) so United's scheduled Ryman Football League Division One South game away to Molesey will be played a later date.

The postponement meant it was a wasted journey for United's players and supporters, and it was all the more frustrating given the bright sunshine on the trip home.

United have dropped to 15th in the league, incidentally, after this afternoon's fixtures, although they now have up to four games in hand on some of the other clubs.
