Unlucky break for Franklin

Jack Franklin has suffered his second serious injury of the 2010-11 football season.

The energetic midfielder sustained a broken ankle during Rye United’s 3-2 win away to East Grinstead Town in Sussex County League Division One on Wednesday, last week.

Franklin hobbled off following a genuine tackle with what at the time was thought to be just a twisted ankle, but

it later turned out to be more serious than hoped and he now faces six weeks in plaster.

The 21-year-old was just starting to recapture some of his early season form having been out for around three months following an operation on a knee injury picked up against Chalfont St Peter during November.

Rye manager Scott Price this week reiterated the view he had expressed earlier in the campaign that Franklin, who joined the club from Sidley United last summer, had been arguably their best player until his first setback.
