A couple of good recent signings have contributed to some improved results and performances from the Macron Store Southern Combination Football League Division One club.

Munday said: “There’s going to be some tougher games than what we’ve had, but on balance I feel we’re in a better place because I think the team’s moving in the right direction.

“We’ve got that more youthful look about us and the players that are coming in are wanting to work as hard as everyone else for the club. I’m pleased with the way we’re going so it should all be good for the end of the season.”

Bexhill have picked up five points and scored seven goals in their last three matches. Five of the goals have come from new recruits Gordon Cuddington and Jacob Shelton.

“I think Jacob’s been immense and Gordon’s a tremendous signing - we’re lucky to have him,” continued Munday. “We’re creating far more chances than what we have done probably in the previous couple of years. It’s just disappointing at the minute where we are in the table and our points tally.”

Bexhill are ninth in the table at present and have eight matches remaining, although the three teams immediately behind them are all within two points and all have games in hand.

Munday admitted last weekend’s 2-2 draw at home to bottom club Saltdean United felt like a defeat after the opposition equalised twice, the second time in the 93rd minute.

“To concede that equaliser does feel like a loss and we’re all gutted about it, but we’ve not lost and we’re unbeaten in three so that’s the positives,” added Munday.

“We worked hard. The first half I think was ours and I think we felt comfortable. We just needed that second goal and it wouldn’t come.

“There was a bit of an altercation at half time and I don’t think we came out in the second half as well as we did at the start of the first half.

“I think a few lads still had a few things on their mind and I think that played into their hands. Saltdean started sharply in the second half, but once we settled down into the game again I felt there was only going to be one side to win it.”

Bexhill will contest their third consecutive fixture at home to bottom three opposition when Midhurst & Easebourne make the long journey to The Polegrove tomorrow (Saturday) for a 3pm kick-off.

Jack Aston will serve the second game of a four-match ban, while Corey Wheeler - who laid on both goals against Saltdean - will hope to avoid any more bangs to the head.

Speaking after the Saltdean clash, Munday said: “He came on for 10 minutes last week and had his nose snapped. He’s back this week - a couple of black eyes but all healed - and late on he’s got another knock and opened his nose up again. He’ll have a sore night and another couple of black eyes, but he’s a class player.”
