CHSB 1 Warden Park 0

This Under-15 County Cup tie was a tense affair with both teams battling well for possession.

In the 25th minute CHSB’s George Cody rose to head home a brilliant cross from Jay Hartard’s free-kick.

The game ebbed and flowed with neither team gaining a territorial nor possessional advantage.

CHSB were able to defend our narrow advantage and progress to the semi-final.

Luke Terry made four decent saves and the two CHSB centre-backs were resolute throughout.

CHSB had an opportunity to put the game out of reach but were unable to capitalise on chances.

Everyone worked to their maximum capacity and were delighted to get through to a clash with Ardingly in the next round.

UNDER-14

Bognor Allstars 4 Selsey 1

Bognor Allstars booked their place in the Challenge Cup final with another solid display to overcome a strong Selsey side.

On a cold, windy, rainy morning, both teams tried to play good football. Bognor opened the scoring when Owain Dynan crossed for George Bingham to slot home from six yards.

Mitchel Cane in the Allstars’ goal produced some fine saves.

Bognor’s second came just before half-time when Liam Morley had a shot blocked and Charlie Osborne latched on to the loose ball and fired into the top corner.

In the second half Scott Bingham twice went close but a great double save from the goalkeeper kept him out. Bingham got Bognor’s third from close range.

The fourth came when Dynan beat the keeper with 15 minutes to go.

Selsey continued to create openings and capitalised with a well-taken goal.

Bognor held firm in the last ten minutes.

Chichester City Colts 2 Worthing Town Blue 4

On a very wet Sunday morning, the Colts entertained last season’s Challenge cup winners in the semi-final.

The Colts started the better and went 1-0 up with a goal from Jake Wells. Worthing hit back soon after, but the Colts showed great resilience and Owen Moore popped up with a lovely strike to make it 2-1 to the Colts at half-time.

The second half saw Worthing make it 2-2. As the game progressed, the weather was getting worse but a string of fine saves from Jack Briant kept the scores level until a few minutes from the end when Worthing scored two late goals.

Briant was named man of the match.

UNDER-NINE

Avisford Youth 2 Rustington Otters Red 1

Avisford recorded their second win in a row in a hard-fought clash at Rose Green.

The home side took the lead five minutes in. Tommy McGinley latched on to Sammy Copeland’s through-ball and fired calmly past the Rustington keeper.

The away side came back into it. The Avisford defence of Longley and Nowak, marshalled by Cummings in goal, kept very busy as they battled to take their lead into half-time.

The second half began in similar fashion to the first,as Avisford broke away to extend their lead. Substitute Matt Kill scored what proved to be a crucial goal.

Rustington pulled one back through Harry Carwithen and that sparked an onslaught as they threw everything at the Avisford goal. But the black and whites held on for the three points to move up to fourth in D division.

Avisford man of the match was Layton Cummings.
