H&B out to avoid any banana skins
Hastings & Bexhill Rugby Club is out to avoid any banana skins as it returns to league action.
After their London & SE Junior Vase victory away to Ellingham & Ringwood last weekend, H&B will resume their Kent One campaign with a visit from New Ash Green tomorrow (Saturday) aiming to make it nine league wins out of nine.
“They’re in the bottom quarter of the league and it shouldn’t be an issue, but you’ve always got in the back of your mind there’s going to be a banana skin somewhere along the line and so far we’ve avoided it,” said H&B coach Chris Brooks.
H&B are eight points clear at the top of the table having scored more points than anybody else in the division and conceded fewer. New Ash Green are ninth having won three and lost five so far.
Brooks expects to have a ‘fairly strong selection’ at his disposal as H&B seek a win which would put them on a real high heading into next weekend’s key trip to second-placed Old Williamsonians.
Kick-off at Ark William Parker Academy is 2.30pm.
As for the cup, H&B are through to the last 16 in the south east and Brooks is hopeful they can make a real impact. Their reward for last weekend’s success is a home tie against league rivals Beccehamian on Saturday December 3.
