Mark Davis is set to line up in the finale of a top level invitational snooker competition.
The St Leonards cueman will take his place in the Championship League Snooker winners’ group over the next two days at Crondon Park Golf Club in Essex.
Group five winner Davis will be joined by the winners of the other six groups. All seven players will initially face each other in a round-robin format, after which the leading four men will advance to contest the semi-finals.
World number 18 Davis has three best-of-five-frames matches scheduled for later today (Wednesday) against Ben Woollaston, Stuart Bingham and Xiao Guodong. He will then take on Matthew Selt, Barry Hawkins and Ali Carter tomorrow.
Davis, 42, booked his place in the winners’ group by coming from 2-0 down to defeat five-time world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan 3-2 in the group five final. He also reached the final in groups three and four, losing to Carter and Bingham respectively.
