South Saxons remain in title contention following an 8-0 win at home to Crawley II on Saturday.

But they didn’t get the favour they were hoping for from elsewhere as fourth-placed Penguin were thumped 9-1 at home to leaders Horsham II, who stay four points clear.

After a frustrating 20 minutes before opening the scoring, Saxons found themselves two-up at half time through George Eldridge and Will Orr, pictured.

Second half goals from Alex Coombs, Toby Reed, Dan Burnett, Jamie Busbridge, Gavin Cload and captain Paddy Cornish completed a one-sided South Hockey League Sussex Area - Division One fixture.

A full report will appear in Friday’s Hastings Observer.
