Josh Bennett spearheaded England to glory in the British Primary Schools’ Table Tennis Championships.

The Hollington Table Tennis Club talent, 11, was undefeated as the England boys’ team cruised past opposition from Guernsey, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Scotland and Wales.

Only Scotland came close to derailing England’s victory charge at the Welsh National Sport Centre, Cardiff, but Polegate-based Bennett crucially won his two singles matches and doubles clash to secure a 7-3 victory.

Bennett, who played at no.3 in the four-man team, also made a good account of himself in the individual event, reaching the quarter-finals where he lost to England no.1 and team-mate Hugo Pang, who went on to make the final.
