NORRIS GEARS UP FOR NEW SEASON

DAVID Norris put in some hot laps at Arlington on Sunday as five Eastbourne Eagles braved the cold to prepare themselves for the new speedway season.

Norris, from Hailsham, was joined at the session by Dean Barker, Lewis Bridger, Brent Werner and Andrew Moore.

Also on track were Edward Kennett, who rides for Rye House and is likely to feature in next year's Eastbourne team, and former Eagle, Mark Loram, who will ride for Ipswich this year.

Norris missed much of last season because of a head injury but seemed to be suffering no ill effects after going out on to track first.

He put in a series of hot laps that show he has lost none of his dash and skill while being on the sidelines.

Eastbourne's first home match is against Arena-Essex on March 18. The Eagles are due at the Thurrock track the night before.

However, Norris is likely to be in competitive action before that. He has been booked to ride in a testimonial match for Sean Wilson at Sheffield.
