Pagham make greeat start

PAGHAM strolled to victory over Burgess Hill by 156 runs, thanks to an excellent all-round display.

Pagham openers Matt Gregory and Will Rolls got them off to the perfect start when they put on 100 for the first wicket.

When this partnership was broken, Chris Hayden dug in and frustrated the Burgess Hill bowlers with a painstaking 48, Pagham finishing on 230-7 from their 49 overs.

In reply, Burgess Hill never really got going after Mike Hales took two wickets in his first over, and the pace of Hales and Rolls ripped through the top order.

Spinners Gregory and Sean Rutter chipped in with two wickets apiece and Burgess Hill collapsed to 74 all out.

Paul Thurston took a fantastic one-handed catch in the slips.
