Dain Jensen officially opened the smart-looking facility at Ark William Parker Academy in the company of invited guests and club athletes on Tuesday, last week.

The refurbishment was triggered by a damp patch on one of the walls increasing in size. As the problem was investigated by an expert, the side of the building virtually fell down.

One side of the building was duly repaired, but it later transpired that the other side was in an even worse state and the corners of the building were in a particularly bad state.

In the end, the club had all four sides and the roof done, along with the soffits and guttering. New flooring has also been put in and the club’s trophy cabinet has also gone back up.

The work took around a month in total, and much of it was carried out by Bill Darby and his brother Paul. Paul Bennett did the tiling and Pete Blomfield also made an important contribution.

Hastings AC wished to thank Jensen, of Kiley’s Karpets, Hastings Lions Club and The Round Table for their assistance with the project.
