Rooks' boost as Watts tests ankle

Lewes manager Steve King expects to have a full squad available for Tuesday evening's rearranged visit from Hayes (7.45pm).

Amos Foyewa went off with cramp and Djoumin Sangare with concussion during Saturday's 3-2 home defeat by league leaders Weymouth but both are expected to be available for the Hayes game.

And Kirk Watts, who has been sidelined for some time with ankle problems, will be involved in tomorrow's friendly fixture at Dulwich with a view to playing on Tuesday.

King plans to put out the first team at Dulwich as he works on his season's target of finishing in the top five of the Conference South. The Rooks are now down to eighth but are still only five points behind third-placed Welling.

King is in no doubt that Weymouth will win the league. He said: 'They're a strong side with good experience and know when to keep possession and do the little things like shutting the game down when necessary.

'Typical was their second goal when Steve Robinson was marking Bound and Jackson was being tracked by Sangare. Jackson ran into Robbo and blocked him off and that gave Bound a free header.

'They were doing high fives on the Weymouth bench so it was obviously something they had worked on.

'After the game I told my lads they had done well but that it was the little mistakes that were costing us and that it was all about decision making.

'We were hesitant in the opening 20 minutes but apart from their goals Paul Wilkerson did not have a save to make.

'I thought Manny Omoyinmi had a tidy game but he should have scored when through on a one-on-one with their goalkeeper. He tried to flick it over him but had he slipped it right Mo Harkin was there for a tap-in.

'I also thought Amos Foyewa started well before he got cramp and I'm looking forward to having him and Kirk Watts back together. We've definitely missed Kirk.'

King said that Gavin Holligan had been loaned to Windsor & Eton for a month to get some games under his belt after being hampered with back and hamstring injuries and a dose of flu.

He also revealed that he had tried to sign Lee Elam '“Weymouth's best player by a mile on Saturday '“ when he was at Crawley, but at the time the winger was negotiating a contract payoff from the Sussex club and then went for big money to the Wessex Stadium.

The Rooks should progress to the semi-finals of the Sussex Senior Cup after being drawn at home to Eastbourne Town in the last eight.

The rest of the draw is Shoreham v Worthing or Hastings Utd, Hassocks or Wealden v Horsham, Crawley v Bognor Regis.
