Sidley sent packing

TWO first half strikes condemned Sidley United to a 2-0 defeat at Southwick on Saturday to leave the Blues looking over their shoulders at the relegation dogfight.

The champions of two years ago are now in 15th place in Sussex Division One after recording just two wins from their last 10 league games.

The home side stormed into the lead with only a minute on the clock thanks to Tony Holden's strike and Simon Funnell doubled the advantage on the stroke of half time.

The Wickers had centre-back Stuart Garrod sent off mid-way through the second half for a professional foul, but United were unable to capitalize on their numerical advantage.
