THREE GB water polo players that live in Sussex Ziggy Tate from Littlehampton, Scott Martin from Chichester and Joel Abbott from Worthing were among the 13 selected to represent Great Britain at a recent tournament in Portugal.

The tournament held over three days in May was a great success with Great Britain winning three out of four games and only loosing the last match by one goal in the last 10 seconds.

All three players started their water polo career with Worthing's Swimming Clubs water polo team prior to GB selection; they still play and train with Worthing when at home. Joel and Ziggy have spent the last 2 years at Grantham water polo academy.

The three boys also travel to Kent to train and play with Invicta men's water polo team when there are no GB commitments.

The only downside to representing their country is that it all has to be self funded.

Joel Abbott has been lucky enough to recently receive 1,000 from Lloyds TSB but Scott and Ziggy are still looking for financial help or sponsorship.
