SUSSEX CRICKETERS RECEIVE AWARD

Sussex County Cricket team was presented last week with the County Championship trophy by the Duke of Edinburgh.

In a special gala ceremony at Buckingham Palace, Sussex captain Chris Adams received The Lords Taverners/ECB County Champion-ship trophy from the duke, who is patron and 12th Man of The Lord's Taverners.

It was a case of history repeating itself with Sussex having won last year's title. Having picked up the trophy at the palace, Adams later accompanied his team to a glittering reception at The Lord's Taverners HQ in central London.

Adams, who making his third visit in five years to Buckingham Palace to receive the prestigious trophy, said, "Winning The Lords Taverners/ECB trophy is the ultimate achievement for any county cricketer and it is a real honour to come to the Palace."

As part of the generous sponsorship by Liverpool Victoria of the County Championship, the company also donates 6 for every six hit, as well as offering a top score bonus, which this year raised 8,082 for The Lord's Taverners.
