Big Weekend success in Battle
Battle residents and visitors from across the country enjoyed the festivities of the Big Weekend.
The annual event’s first 80s disco kicked off the weekend on Friday night (June 26) and the crowds were treated to a carnival through the town centre and a summer fayre on Saturday (June 27), with classic attractions including a coconut shy and a crockery smash.
The Chandeliers, The Rufus Stone Band, Suspect and the Blockx rounded off a fun-filled weekend which took 12 months of planning by the Battel Bonfire Boyes in aid of their annual bonfire.
Spokesman Matt Southam thought the event was a huge success.
“There was a real family feel and I think it all went well, especially the fayre which was helped by the great weather,” he said,
“I had a few people commenting and telling me that it felt how a village fete should feel which was great to hear.”
