Battle Choral Society, led by their director of music John Langridge, will be singing “one of the most beautiful compositions in the whole choral repertoire” which is The Requiem by Gabriel Fauré.

The last time the choir sang this was a sell out, such is the popularity of this music that brings consolation to the living, as well as a commemoration of the dead. The Requiem ends with In Paradisum, a serene and gentle musical description of eternal rest.

The choir will also be singing Franz Schubert’s Stabat Mater.

This is a composition that is perhaps not as well known as others, but the choir has loved learning a new piece to add to their repertoire. Schubert cannot fail to attract, being possibly the most important and famous song writers of all the composers, and publicity officer Iva Barnes hopes that the name Schubert will be enough to attract a large and enthusiastic audience.

The concert takes place at St John the Evangelist Church, Pevensey Road, St Leonards on Sea TN 38 0RD on Saturday November 26 at 7.30 pm.
