London Philharmonic Orchestra is promising the perfect tonic for the post-Christmas blues as guitarist Miloš Karadaglić brings Spanish sunshine to Eastbourne on January 15.

Part of resident orchestra the London Philharmonic’s current season at the Congress Theatre, Miloš Karadaglić performs two works conducted by Karen Kamensek: Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez and a piece written specially for him by David Bruce: The Peacock Pavane, which is a celebration of musical colour and grace.

David explains “The piece is a kind of response to the past [few years], it’s a tender waiting kind of piece, capturing some of those feelings we’ve all felt as we wait for the moment we can happily reunite with our friends and family.”

Bruce has developed an international reputation as a composer. His work has been commissioned and performed all around the world including Carnegie Hall, Glyndebourne Opera House and the BBC Proms. He has written one-act operas, chamber operas and a series of mini-operas and been Associate Composer of the San Diego Symphony and Composer-in-Residence with the Royal Opera House.

Since the release of his international best-selling Deutsche Grammophon debut album Mediterraneo Miloš Karadaglić has become one of the world’s most celebrated classical guitarists. Miloš has toured extensively and had three chart-topping albums The Guitar (2011), Latino Gold (2012) and Blackbird – The Beatles Album (2016).

The London Philharmonic Orchestra’s January concert programme is completed with raw flamenco passion from De Falla’s The Three-Cornered Hat: Suite No 1 and picture-postcards painted by Bizet’s Carmen Suites Nos 1 & 2 and his Farandole from L’Arlésienne Suite No 2.

Grammy Award-winning conductor Karen Kamensek’s artistry coupled with her commitment for championing composers of the 20th and 21st century is reflected in her work in both the opera house and on the concert stage. Recently she made a return to the Metropolitan Opera to lead the production of Glass’ Akhnaten.
