n This evening (Friday) the Literary Society is meeting at 7 for 7.30 pm in the Court Hall.

n Tomorrow evening there is an opportunity to say farewell to Viola and Greg Zaks who, following their family tragedy last year, have decided to return to Poland.

Whatlington Village Voice

n Lisa and Karen are hosting a charity fund raising ball to raise funds for Cancer Research UK, a very worthy cause close to many people’s hearts!

n Services at the Parish Church of St John the Baptist on Sunday February 19: The Sunday next before Lent, 8am Holy Communion (1662), 9.30am Nine Thirty Start (all-age service), 10.30am Parish Eucharist. This Week: Tuesday, 7.30pm Prayer Group – 59 Heathlands, Wednesday Ash Wednesday 9.30am Holy Communion, 7pm Parish Communion.

Udimore Village Voice

n A good number of friends and relatives attended Hugh Goddard’s funeral on Tuesday last week and helped to make it a memorable and fitting occasion. Many people had sent lovely messages to be written on cards, each one showing a British bird, and floral gifts to be placed on his coffin (arranged by Pam, with the help of her neighbour Sarah). During the service, moving accounts of Hugh’s life were given by Chris Fairman (who presided), and by Denis Crouch and Robert Wheeler. In the King’s Head afterwards the team in the kitchen laid on some excellent refreshments. Pam would like to thank all these people for their support and sympathy at this sad time.
