Blooming great success for Flower Festival

Last weekend's Flower Festival, held at St Mary and St Peter church, Pett was hailed a blooming great success, raising £2,300 for church funds.

The Festival, held on Saturday and Sunday September 17 and 18, saw 27 stunning arrangements displayed throughout the church.

Despite a cool damp start to the weekend the beautiful colours of Autumn flowers enhanced the church and were admired by visitors from near and far including the Home Secretary Amber Rudd.

One of the organisers of the event, Gill Plank says the Festival is very much a team effort and its success is thanks to the dedication of many.

“Our grateful thanks go to those who generously donated goods to the raffle and tombola, to those who dedicated their time, to the talents of those who arranged the displays, to the organisers and all the sponsors,” she said.

Gill says the imaginative arrangements and wonderful array of home made cakes ensured the weekend was enjoyed by all, adding:

“Thanks to the generosity of the sponsors, the event raised £2,300. This will go towards the upkeep of the church.

“The hard work of many people made this an extremely successful event.”
