Let us set an example to all

The architects of the European Union have ensured that it cannot be reformed without treaty change and that is something that will not happen regardless of what our prime minister would have us believe.

By encouraging ever more countries to give up their sovereignty and join this organisation the EU should be seen for what it really is, an attempt to create a super state with France and Germany playing the leading role.

This is not just about trade, why else would they now be talking about a European army?

This modern day attempt at building an empire is doomed to fail, based as it is on the ideological belief that if we all forget about our country of birth and just call ourselves European everyone will work together in peace and harmony.

Never mind about different languages and cultures, forget about freedom of speech and electing those who make our laws, the grandiose scheme must proceed regardless.

The argument that the EU helps prevent countries from fighting one another ignores the fact that the expansion of the EU is itself causing friction with Russia, hence the trouble in the former buffer country of Ukraine which the EU is encouraging to join.

All empires eventually collapse as they expand to the point where there are no longer the resources to sustain them.

Already the cracks are showing as the stifled economies of the poorer countries require ever more support from funds provided by the few successful economies. Each year Britain pours billions of pounds of borrowed money into this financial black hole, adding to our colossal debt mountain of £1.5 trillion.

Waste and inefficiency in the European Commission is rife and there is no incentive for fiscal responsibility.

If Britain is still a member when the EU finally disintegrates we could well be dragged down with it.

That is why a vote to leave is so important.

We need leaders who believe in Britain and its ability to compete and succeed on the world stage, just as it has done in the past.
