LENT LUNCHES: Lent Lunches continue today at Margaret's home at 2 Forge Cottages, The Green at 12noon until 1.30pm. You are invited to enjoy homemade soup and crusty bread for just £3 each. All funds are to be shared between two charities , the Seaview project for the homeless based in St Leonards and Farm Africa. All are welcome to attend today in the company of friends old and new. These lunches will run for the next three Fridays of Lent.

SEDLESCOMBE GREEN W I: The next meeting of Sedlescombe Green WI will be on Wednesday Match 22 in the village hall at 7.30pm. Margaret writes “Ladies please note that due to a bereavment, the planned speaker is unable to come, we will have a BAKE AND TASTE evening with social time. Make something you enjoy cooking and provide the recipe together with your name. We will then taste each others goodies and swap receipes . These are tasty and good fun evenings . PLEASE JOIN IN. Competition will be just flower of the month. Visitors and new members are always welcome”. Further details call 870808

EASTER LILIES: It is time to order Easter Liies at £2 each in memory of loved ones. These lilies will be used to decorate the church at Easter. All names will be included on the roll of honour which will be on display in church over Eastertide. Envelopes to order will be available in church next Sunday or you can call Sylvia on 870688 or Margaret on 870808 to order or find out more details.

MOTHERING SUNDAY AT ST JOHNS PARISH CHURCH: Mothering Sunday is March 26, the service is at the usual start time of 10.30am when everyone is welcome to attend, but most importantly, the children with their mums. It is a time to say Thank You for all that mothers do for you during the year. There will be posies of flowers to take home, with coffee and chat after the service.

GRAND QUIZ AND SUPPER: Sedlescombe and district flower club are organising a quiz and supper evening for Wednesday April 12 at the village hall. You are invited to take part in this fundraising event, teams of six are the order of the evening but don’t worry if you are not in a team and would like to take part, new friends will be waiting for you to make a dream team ! The questions will not all be on flowers but rounds on a broad range of subjects. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets are £7.50 which includes a delicious supper, please bring your own wine or beer. Tickets can be reserved now by calling 01424 870344 or email [email protected]

ST MICHAELS HOSPICE CELEBRATORY TEAS: To celebrate the 30th anniversary of St Michael’s Hospice, they are inviting all supporters to free celebratory teas, which are taking place in six locations throughout Hastings and Rother. On Saturday May 13, a Celebratory Tea is taking place at Sedlescombe Village Hall, with a choice of two sittings at 2pm and 4.30pm. The events are completely free, with thanks to the Big Lottery Fund. There will be afternoon tea and live music for all to enjoy. Spaces are limited, so early booking is essential to avoid disappointment. Bookings can be made at www.stmichaelshospice.com/teas
